1. Tay Keith

“Tay Keith, f*** these n****s up!”Said by Clarksville, Tennessee rapper Lil Juice

Tay Keith died in June 2026 at the age of 29. His tag remains one of the most recognised sounds in rap.

Tay Keith told Billboard the tag 'basically came from my boy Lil Juice': he tweeted that he needed a tag, Lil Juice sent him several options, and they settled on one. Before that, early beats such as BlocBoy JB's 'Goons Coming' (2014) carried a plainer 'Tay Keith produced this' tag. The tag blew up with BlocBoy JB and Drake's 'Look Alive' in 2018, and Rolling Stone called it 'the catchiest producer tag in hip-hop'.

2. Metro Boomin

“Metro Boomin want some more”Said by Young Thug, from his song "Some More"

Metro's first tag in 2013-2014 was 'This beat is so, so Metro'. 'Metro Boomin want some more' came from Young Thug's song 'Some More' and went viral in early 2016; Metro told Vice it was 'just some shit Thug made up in his head'. Future's line 'If Young Metro don't trust you, I'm gon' shoot you' first appeared on Uncle Murda's Metro-produced 'Right Now' (2015). It became famous on Drake and Future's 'Jumpman' and Kanye West's 'Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1'.

3. Pharrell

The four-count intro

Pharrell's signature is not a spoken tag but a four-count that opens many of his songs, going back to his Neptunes productions. He told Vulture it was not planned ('I never meant to') and that he didn't notice until someone pointed it out; Dazed reports he then embraced it as his trademark.

10. Honorable C.N.O.T.E.

“The Honorable C.N.O.T.E.”Said by A female friend of the producer

He told The Fader that a female friend recorded the tag. Her first take was breathy and drawn-out ('Mmmmmm... the Honorable C.N.O.T.E.'), so he cut the start and kept 'The Honorable' delivery. He says it is an old tag, probably first used on the follow-up single to DG Yola's Atlanta hit 'I Ain't Gon Let Up'.

11. DJ Khaled

“DJ Khaled!”Said by DJ Khaled himself

Khaled told Variety that as a club DJ he used his own name in his talk-ins so people would remember who made the mix. His heavy 808s and orchestral synths on Waka Flocka Flame's Flockaveli and Rick Ross's 'B.M.F.' shaped 2010s trap. He co-founded 808 Mafia with Southside in 2010.
